My Gracious Host and his girlfriend, who will be known as The Modest Runner, decided a proper gastronomic realignment was The Salt Lick.
The story goes that the founder and first owner (the current owner is his son) needed a better way to support his ever-expanding family during Depression-ish times. He built the pit and would head there on Friday, to cook the meat, sleep at its base, and sell meat right off its fire. When all the meat was sold he came home. He started arriving home earlier and earlier...and a good (tasting) thing had begun.
